Clay Aiken: Truth In Advertising

Pictures speak louder than words - don't you think? In the interest of truth - may I say that every one of these pictures was taken on the same exact day at the same exact event.

As the wonderful fountaindawg said
I'd send this to the Globe . . . But ... But ... But ... All those pics of NotFatClay looking kinda hawt might contribute to Globe-al Warming.

And, of course, this gem from Pink Armchair:
And as far as the pictures go, how is that rag going to rationalize it the first time Clay shows up in public or on TV as his natural slim self? I can see it now: "PILL-POPPING SINGER LOSES 30 POUNDS IN ONE MONTH! HIS AMAZING WEIGHT-LOSS DIET REVEALED!"

and a big thank you to fountaindawg for the collage!

. . . and a shout-out to Oprah Winfrey and her fans. Clay's in good company when he's on the front page with you!

To those "non-fans" who feel the need to share their advice and wisdom here on this blog -- I've been putting through your comments, but honestly, they are really boring. Try to put some humor in them or something fun, please. In the wonderful words of Mose Allison:

If you must keep talking, please try to make it rhyme

Because your mind is on vacation

And your mouth is working overtime

The truth and the media are getting further apart. More legitimate media is going the way of the Globe each and every day. How sad is that.

The tabloids are so absurd, and this is a perfect example of the crap they make up. It must be a slow month. Either that or they've run out of "Bigfoot's Love Slave" stories.

His double chin is noticible in nearly every picture you've posted. The Globe one is just the most noticible. As their article says, the fans would do well to be concerned about him then to argue over what they think are insults.

Actually, considering those are all taken on the exact same day, I think the next Globe headline will have to go like this - "PILL-POPPING SINGER LOSES 30 POUNDS IN 30 SECONDS! HOW HIS EATING DISORDER IS RUINING HIS LIFE!"

What a bunch of morons at the tabloids... and what a bunch of morons that believe them. It's sad.

Hey anonymous 12:51PM - thanks for stopping by and giving us your advice. How about taking some yourself - his "non-fans" would do well to be unconcerned about anything to do with Clay or seek out anything about him. I mean, I know why I care and have a sense of humor. But I can't figure out why you care and have none.

Those insane "non-fans" just don't know how to stay away, do they? HEE

So he has a double chin. Boohoo. But then again he's always had it. He did put a few pounds, but he was the first one to make fun of it. He also revealed he's been taking Paxil. Looks like he's been one step ahead of ya all the time.

Btw, I tried to understand what "the fans would do well to be concerned about him then to argue over what they think are insults" means, but I guess I'm not very good at deciphering run-on sentences. But don't feel bad, Anonymous, English is, after all, my second language. (Well, third, but why split hairs?) Whaaat? Fat, untalented Clay has fans abroad? And I'm not even part of his huge Asian fanbase. I'm from Europe. Eat your heart out.

So.. Clay was slim on R and K on 11/17, fat at the UNICEF event on 11/18 and slim again at the AMAs on 11/21...

More tabloid BULLSH-T, and we know it.

Thanks for the laugh, FDawgie.

I'm sticking with my fat, old, ill-tempered, pill-popping, mad talented Singer.

I will be doing the same. :) None of the pictures that conclave has posted show as ,uch "double chin-if that's what you want to call it" as InTouch. Goes to show you that they do photoshop just about everything.

Well Wendy, in the interest of Truth - which is what we're really talking about - I was there that day. He did make a funny face and tuck his head down into his neck and it did look kind of like Jiminy Glick - which is when that picture probably snapped (maybe slightly exaggerated by The Globe, who knows). Some people naturally have sharper indentations under their neck and others have more tissue - ain't got nothing to do with weight. We all know Clay put on a few pounds - hell he even said so. The overwrought article in the Globe is just so over-the-top one would think it was satire if the Globe actually knew the meaning of that. But I don't think we'll be confusing Jonathan Swift and the writer of this article any time soon.

some people have a bit of a chin no matter what their weight. Clay is far from fat. In fact, he is about perfect right now, no longer underweight. He really looks good to me.

WRU said...

30 lbs? He weighed 145, so he weighs 175, he's 6'1".

BTW a friend saw him in NY up close and personal and said there is no way he is heavy, much slimmer in person.

Tabloids = crap

Anonymous said...

Fat, thin--he's sexy as hell either way.

He looks like Winona Ryder.

The ConCLAYve-Nan said...

Winona Ryder 10:46AM? Never thought of that - but they both are quite good looking and have great cheekbones. I guess that's what you meant. I don't see the resemblence Winona Ryder but she's quite a good looking woman and Clay's quite a good looking man so I guess that's the connection. Thanks for sharing.

Lena,
It is maddening that some fans would rather crusade over percieved insults of weight-gain (even though Clay called himself fat) than show any concern or compassion for him over what his weight gain and Paxil taking are symptomatic of.

Still can't figure it out?
Try reading the article headline.
It may may be sensationalised, but there is truth there.

Yes, when I want the truth... whoo, boy... the very first place I look is the trusty Globe.

What I'd be much more concerned about is why anyone would spend so much time trying to trash a singer they don't like. What's that symptomatic of?

The ConCLAYve-Nan said...

Sorry I deleted my other post by mistake so I'll repost:

Anonymous 7:50PM - I don't see any fans crusading over perceived insults of weight-gain. I see fans poking fun at the stupidity of a bad picture. His "weight gain" is from eating a bit too much. Paxil is being taken for panic attacks that crowds cause him. And the article's headline? I'd pay attention to it - but the last time I paid attention to The Globe - I spent a year trying to track down Elvis's alien child and never found him.

But thanks for sharing your wisdom with us.

Anonymous said...

Wonderful. You probably would've said Elvis at the end was just "retaining water" too.
Please get your heads out of the sand.

I put your comment through anonymous 12:27 AM - although it was neither interesting nor funny. I do think my brain is a little tired from figuring out your point though. You shouldn't really be worried where our heads are. I'm sure we all appreciate your concern for what we think and who we like and all that. But there are so many things you should really be concerned about - a war, lack of healthcare, rising costs of colleges, genocide, plight of children in Uganda - don't spend so much time worrying about what fans of Clay Aiken think or do. It's not healthy.

Anonymous said...

It wasn't supposed to be funny.
What isn't healthy is that some fans, including those here, appear far more concerned with forcing Clay to be what they think he should be, than allowing him any room to be human. That goes from his sexuality, to his musical choices, to his weight, hair length and beyond.

The ConCLAYve-Nan said...

OK anonymous 2:01PM last time your comments go through because honestly they are boring. What isn't healthy is you taking such an interest in what Clay fans think or do. It's really not a hard concept to grasp. We all get it. You don't like Clay fans and you think they are all morons. No problema. What is unhealthy is your preoccupation to make us all see the truth as you see it. Everyone on this blog has a very good sense of humor about ourselves and Clay. We enjoy him, enjoy discussing him as well as many other topics. You're projecting your own unhealthy obsession onto people who are just having fun. Give it a rest now.

Interestingly enough I find this comment self fulfilling, except NOT for those posting here as fans that see Clay with all his warts, but as more so for those posting unendingly everywhere they can, about a man they don't apparently like, in that those posters don't want to let the man self define for himself who he is, sexually, muscally, and for goodness sake, as a human being. Really, there is so much concern from that quarter as to boggle the mind. I honestly do not know how to fathom the depths of that. The man doesn't walk on water but he hasn't drowned anyone it it either, ya know? He's living his life, HIS OWN LIFE, much like everyone else get to do. Perhaps some self examination is in order for y'all.

What is even more maddening is the delusional people who make this crap up and then believe it. It takes then all of 5 seconds to forget that they made the crap up in the first place, then they go on a crusade to convince us that it's real!

Anonymous said...

Love you. Just. Love. You. Oh, and Clay too! I really have nothing to add except that we all have to continue to stick together!

Anonymous said...

I've commented on other blogs before under 'Anonymous' but to distance myself from some of the comments under the same, thought I better give my 'name'. Here's my two cents:

So what if he is putting on some weight (more of him to love)! First we say he is too thin, now we say he is too fat. Give the man a break. Haven't we always say that the outer self does not matter but it's the inner self? That is why there are so many of us that love Clay.

Let's not forget here that not only it's the tabloid that always stretches the truth while creating fictional stories to sell their papers, the other news media also does the same thing but maybe don't stretch it as much. Also, there are people who can actually make themselves appear to have a double chin by simply pushing their chin against their neck (I personally know a few) while they are in no way "fat".

Why do we always have to find something to pick on?! To those of us who love Clay or not, if we have any sense of human decency, we would stop spreading and focusing on someone's flaws rather it is true or not. Let's all try to always look at the positives and keep supporting and encouraging on that. And with Clay, that's ain't so hard because he is a lovely man and even more gorgeous on the inside. Let's all just wish him the best in his career, his health and personal lives.
