I'm crazy about songs like "I Survived You" and "Everything I Don't Need". They are sexy in a way the old standards aren't. Remember "Touch", the song he hated? Clay did some great pop songs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27776070.post-82121080121294807882010-09-29T14:53:25.423-04:002010-09-29T14:53:25.423-04:00I agree with Corabeth, not only did the song give ...I agree with Corabeth, not only did the song give me the chills, some of the things Corabeth described gave me the chills. She is so right. When Clay stretches himself it is so amazing. But when he changes the traditional classics, the Clayway, I must say I love it. Clay is definitely a song stylist and I love what he does with every song he sings. But what he did with the rock material at the TT was incredible, loved it. Hopefully he'll surprise us in the future.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27776070.post-13294418827065776642010-09-29T05:57:49.140-04:002010-09-29T05:57:49.140-04:00I'm addicted to every video of his Timeless To...I'm addicted to every video of his Timeless Tour "More Than a Feeling" snippet - and his Bringing Broadway Home performances of "Home" from "The Big River" and "Those Magic Changes" from "Grease." Who can ever forget his original take on Prince's "When Doves Cry'? I love to see him stretch but not to the breaking point: IMO "All Is Well" did not show him off - it strained his voice too much. Singing should sound effortless, even when it isn't. My preference to see Clay rock out or sing contemporary, but one bonus of the current album is that we get to hear that lower register.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27776070.post-15137492612454768422010-09-28T15:14:11.421-04:002010-09-28T15:14:11.421-04:00Why are you a fan of Clay's since there really...Why are you a fan of Clay's since there really is nothing you do not want to change.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27776070.post-70289417966895658792010-09-26T02:01:57.377-04:002010-09-26T02:01:57.377-04:00I totally agree with you. Many concerts later he kept surprising me. I do hope he steps out of his comfort zone and records and performs some rockin songs. I don't think there isn't a song that he can't sing, but I certainly hope someone writes some new material for him. He really needs a couple of rockin songs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27776070.post-41236755041703785292010-09-25T22:47:56.877-04:002010-09-25T22:47:56.877-04:00I totally agree with you. Although I've always loved the songs Clay sings on his new CD, I have to admit Tried and True is actully my least favorite of Clay's CD's. Once I've heard a song by the original artist, sung as the composter meant it to be sung, I very rarely like when a singer changes something in the song to make it his or her own. That's what kind of spoils it for me. I think a singer, like Clay, should just sing it as written. His great voice and the beautiful feeling he puts into each song are enough to make it his own.

I'd rather hear Clay sing new songs or more recent and up-tempo songs. There are some good ones out there. They aren't all 'baby, baby, baby....' No surprise, I guess, that "On My Way Here" is my favorite of Clay's CD's. Falling, Ashes, Where I Draw the Line and I Survived You are some of Clay's best vocals. It's a really tough call..ktanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27776070.post-67280099722313161682010-09-24T23:57:31.209-04:002010-09-24T23:57:31.209-04:00Rock on, Clay!Rock on, Clay!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
